History of our Gift Shop & Tea Rooms
You are here: Home > About us Santon Bridge Gift Shop & Tea Rooms - Past & Present Once upon a time... in 1954, the Craft Shop was a small garden shed at the bottom of a garden in Cumbria where the owners served teas in a flask to customers. Over the years it has evolved and is now 2 large 'cabins' which have turned into a veritable institution - a real Aladin's cave of gifts complimented by the Woodlands Tea Rooms which were added in 2001.
We are surrounded by woodland and are ideally located as a meeting place for walkers, just a few yards away from the river Irt, a good salmon and sea trout river, which flows out of Wastwater (England's deepest lake).
Fifteen minutes drive away is Wasdale Head and of course Scafell Pike (England's highest mountain), Great Gable, Pillar, Red Pike, Crinkle Crags, Bowfell, Harterfell and Hardknott are all close by.
Other attractions in the area include Muncaster Castle, and the La'al Ratty Railway.
